China
Moving at breakneck speed, China just keeps getting bigger. There’s more tourism and more development and it’s even more important than ever to plan the right trip to China.
- About 1 in 5 people in the world are Chinese
- Despite its size, all of China runs on Beijing time
- Tea was supposedly discovered when a tea leaf fell into a Chinese emperor’s boiling water
- "Face" or Mianzi, a social concept based on honour and social standing, is inherently Chinese and an intrinsic part of the culture (ie: "saving face")
- China is believed to have the oldest continuous culture (est. 6000 BC) and language
- Learning about feng shui at the Ming tombs
- Visiting Xi’an’s Great Mosque, gateway to the Silk Road
- Contemplating, Taoist style, in the Garden of the Master of the Nets in Suzhou
