Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Deborah Halpern (born 1957 in Melbourne) is an artist working in Victoria Australia, notable for her prominent and popular works of public art. Halpern is a sculptor, mosaic artist and ceramic artist

Inspired by the free spirit of Pablo Picasso Deborah's famous works include the surreal sculpture such as 'Angel' which was once featured in the moat of the National Gallery of Victoria (but since relocated to Birrarung Marr)'

Torquay, Victoria, Australia

Today's photo shows the full length of Torquay's surf beach looking west. Not so attractive at this end but a lovely sandy beach at the other end, and I'm assured much better waves too. The building in the background is the Surf Lifesaving Club used by the selfless volunteers that man this section of the coast during the summer months

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Laneways in Melbourne can be tricky to photograph, very low light particularly on overcast days, moving people everywhere, and yesterday also rain. But I couldn't help myself and took this image of one with a motorbike sitting outside a barber shop waiting for it's owner to return. I also took an image looking back the other way with cafe diners enjoying Melbourne's wonderful coffee ... but I will leave that one for another day

Werribee, Victoria, Australia

My best photos seem to all have water in them, either at the beach or on a river like this one in Werribee. I was so lucky to find this river on a very still morning with the surface almost glass like and just one or two fluffy pink clouds in the sky and also reflected in the water below. It is the end of Saturday here, so hope you like this calm & peaceful image to start your weekend off.

Loch Ard Gorge, Victoria, Australia

Near the end of the Great Ocean Road is a stretch of coast that is littered with rock stacks, from the Twelve Apostles through to the Bay of Martyrs. In the middle of this wonder is the Loch Ard Gorge and the surrounding inlets with their wonderful testimonies to perseverance against the Southern Ocean and the winds that pound from the harsh south. This one is called the Razorback and is more elongated than the others, but just as spectacular in appearance.

Eden, New South Wales, Australia

At one end of Eden's main swimming beach is this wonderful rock pool, constructed a long time ago as a safe alternative for the locals to use. The pool is almost full of sand that has been washed in by the sea and it is now impossible to swim laps due to the lack of depth but the waves still splash over it at one end and gush out through the rectangle slots at the other end.

Thredbo, New South Wales, Australia

Normally covered in snow during the winter and spring, this is one of the ski runs at Thredbo. I took the chair lift to the top of the one of main slope which overlooks Mount Kosciuszko's peak and had a coffee at the cafĂ© with the highest view in Australia. Before coming down I spotted these small flowers in amongst the golden grass taking a last look at the warm sun before the onset of the colder months and being completely covered with snow and skiers.

Charlotte Pass, New South Wales, Australia

The beautiful Snow Gum Board Walk at Charlotte Pass was a great treat this afternoon. It is high in the Alpine region of Australia and although it is summer time here, the scenery is still very attractive and these twisted Snow Gums are so pretty as they enjoy the warmer weather before being surrounded by snow in a few months time.

Central Tilba, New South Wales, Australia

Moving further up the south coast of New South Wales early this morning, I stopped at Central Tilba and walked several hundred metres back down the road to where I had earlier seen this gorgeous scene. Mount Dromedary in the background caught my eye first, but the cows grazing on the luscious green grass of the rolling hills helped created a very balanced image.
