Tulip festival is an annual festival held in Asia's largest tulip garden in Srinagar.
1. Chitrakoot Falls, Chattisgarh
Why? Lesser number of tourists means more peace & quiet for picnicking close to the Chitrakoot Falls.
“The Chitrakoot Falls is beautiful. Boating facilities are available during off-season. Visit the nearby Kutumsar Caves, which are a nature's best creation.” You can watch the smooth Indravati River flow and capture pictures of fishermen with the falls in the background.
2. Goa
Why? Cheaper deals and less crowded beaches. Laze around forever to get that perfect tan!
Goa during off-season is very different from what it is like during the cooler months. “If you are in Baga, there is enough water activities throughout the year,”“Goa is best during off-season if you want to be away from those party animals. I have always visited Goa during off-season and you get quality international travellers who come to spend their peaceful time and it is not overpriced. Every hotel and shack are priced economically during the this season. Visit beaches like Morjem, Anjuna and the Apliem Lake area of Arambhol Beach.”
3. Mussoorie
Why? Right before families flock the place for the summer suggest you go there right away.
“Mussoorie is close to Dehradun and is an amazing weekend getaway. I prefer it over other hill stations because it is easily accessible from Dehradun. You can visit the place in the summer months of March to June and even during winters.” The summer months are the best time for trekking, camping and rock climbing.
4. Kerala
Why? Pleasant enough for a backwater cruise at economical rates.
We visited Kerala during the rainy season. I feel that the rain adds beauty to the romantic scenery.” Though off-season in Kerala is not very popular, it is comfortable and must be experienced. "During off-season, you can enjoy the pristine beauty and quieter beaches. You can opt for any of the activities and things to do in Kerala, that too at a cheaper rate and it is easier to walk around and do activities of your interest," he adds.
5. Udaipur
Why? Don't miss the Mewar Festival held between March and April.
“Udaipur is a mixed bag. It will enable you to know about our history, at the same time spoil you with good food. You can watch the old city market or simply sit by the ghats & relax. The forts within the city & in and around city are must-visits. To add to that, Bagore Ki Haveli, Pichola & Ranakpur Temple.” If you are a budget traveller, visit Udaipur during the off-season as you can get good hotels and travel deals during this time. Don’t miss the colourful festivities of the Mewar Festival, which is celebrated with huge pomp and show during the month of March and April in Udaipur.
6. Pondicherry
Why? The ideal time for dolphin spotting.
“We took an impromptu road trip to Pondicherry in March. Though the weather is hot and humid, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The city has some nice places to eat and is a haven for seafood lovers. There are some very fancy French restaurants too. The Promenade is the landmark spot of the city and the entire tourist population flocks there in the evenings. Chunnabar Boathouse and Paradise Island is a must-visit and one can easily spend an entire day there. There is a scuba diving institute that offers various levels of scuba diving.”
7. Gurudongmar, Sikkim
Why? Less number of tourists and blooming season of rhododendrons.
“I had traveled to Gurudongmar in my car and the experience was simply bliss. One of the most enriching experience of life. The rhododendrons in full bloom on the way, add to the beauty of the journey. There were wild flowers and green grass all around Gurudongmar.”
8. Srinagar
Why? Experience the Tulip Festival sans the 'touristy' crowd.
“Srinagar is a good destination to visit in March. If you visit during March end to April 2nd week you can see the dazzling rainbow colours of the Tulip Festival.” “Srinagar is a little cold in March, but a great destination for honeymooners.”
