VANUATU

The top tourist attractions in Vanuatu are among the most exciting in the South Pacific Ocean. And if there is anything that neighboring countries like FijiNew Caledonia and the Solomon Islands would clue in about them, it’s probably the fact that guests would be treated to everything a tropical paradise could and would offer. Vanuatu was first inhabited by Melanesian people up until the Europeans – Spanish, French and those from the UK, came and claimed parts of the 83 island archipelago. For more than 300 years, the country’s identity was influenced by outside forces and it was only in the 1970’s when it finally won its independence and finally emerged as its own, with its name (Vanua meaning home and Tu meaning stand) as a symbolization.

Nevertheless, it cannot be denied that living under the shadow of colonizers have affected the country’s identity to some extent. As such, it wouldn’t be surprising to find that one of the top tourist attractions in Vanuatu is the local Museum and Cultural Center, which contains a lot of interesting historical artifacts and information about the republic. And then, there’s the Ekasup Village, where you could indulge in a cultural and traditional immersion. The archeological site in Teouma, on the island of Efate, is also a popular point of interest among tourists since it hosts the largest-known cemetery within the region, which is believed to be about 3200 years old.
In addition to the aforementioned, Vanuatu also has a variety of water highlights, from lakes to beaches, starting with Champagne, which is the most popular within the country. It is found on the island of Espiritu Santo and is highly praised for the quality of sand and water it has. And it often is part of the itinerary of cruise boats, especially from Australia.

And then, there’s Lelepa Island, which provide guests with opportunities for snorkeling, dolphin interaction and bush walks; and Hide Away Island, that offers people a more secluded hideaway. Inland, the country has Lake Letas, located in the center of the volcanic island of Gaua, which is surrounding Mound Gharat. Just 3 kilometers away, people can find Siri Waterfall, another one of the top tourist attractions in Vanuatu. And all of them offer great venues for hikes, climbs, kayaking, rafting and of course, swimming. The best part is that they are very accessible internationally, with the presence of Gaua Airport.
As is obvious, this nation is anything but devoid of wonderful tourist spots. And only a few have been run down in this feature. If you wish to know more about the top tourist attractions in Vanuatu, you should look for additional references and perhaps just wing it, book a plane ticket and discover what awaits you one day at a time
