Bandarban, Bangladesh. Found in Bandarban district in South-Eastern Bangladesh, Bandarban town is one of the main attractions in the country. The tourists are attracted by its temples, a Tribal Cultural Institute and a spectacular scenery.
Buddha Dhatu Jadi or the Bandarban Golden Temple, is a Theravada Buddhist shrine – the largest in Bangladesh, a holy site for Buddhist pilgrims. It is also the main tourist attraction as far as the temples are considered. The Pond of Angels and a breathtaking scenery surrounds the shrine. Many festivals take place here each year.
Bandarban is also known as a hill town: the tallest peak Keokaradong reaches 1,412 m (4,632 ft) height. These hills are covered with forests and define Bandarban’s landscape. There are six amazing waterfalls in the area. For example, the beautiful Shoilo Propat waterfall plunges its way through the rocks. The tourists can purchase authentic handcrafts and food at the market near the fall.
Tourists are offered to ride the hills with the jeeps. By driving zigzag roads, that pass tribal villages, the tourists get to know more about the life of indigenous people. Barely touched by civilization, the area might be especially interesting and exotic for the visitors from the bigger cities.
