The Beautiful Art Nouveau City Ålesund in Norway

The Beautiful Art Nouveau City Ålesund in Norway

Ålesund, Norway. A sea port in the northern European country fascinates with Art Nouveau architecture. The colorful houses on the coast, surrounded with fjords, offers the typical landscape, you would expect to see in Scandinavia.
Located on the seven islands Ålesund also charms with nature. Norway is famous for its fjords and the most beautiful one is found here. Geiranger fjord is included in UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. Hjørund fjord is also loved by the hikers. The various levels of tracks will suit everyone, from a beginner to an experienced hiker.
Although a rather small town, Ålesund can offer a nice experience for the visitors. A neighboring island Runde attracts birdwatchers: over 500,000 nesting birds gather here. Fishing is an important economic branch, but also an activity for the tourists. In the Art Nouveau Centre you will find out more about this style.
Although nature is in the city and surrounds it, do not be deceived. It is a commercial town, therefore many shopping malls are found here. The winters are not particularly rough here, therefore, visitors come here all year round.
