The Surreal Danxia Landform in China

The Surreal Danxia Landform in China
The Danxia Landform, China. Now it is easy to think that the landscape is an excerpt from a surreal painting. Do not be mistaken: it is actually a real natural wonder, found in the southern part of China.
The colorful stripes are the result of the geomorphic processes, that took place after the Jurassic period: 145-66 million years ago. The colorful sandstone range also hides many shallow caves under its surface – a real treat for the speleology fans. Moreover, the Danxia landscapes were enlisted in a World Heritage Site.
Tourists usually go to the small town of Zhangye, from where the gorgeous landscapes can be reached easily. The new roads, boardwalks and paths have been built to induce tourism and to make the hiking experience comfortable. And besides the nature, ancient temples, situated around the area, will make the trip here unforgettable.
