Xcaret Park, the Riviera Maya, Mexico. The resort and theme park is found 75 km (47 mi) south of Cancún. A unique water park is named after the Xcaret archeological site, which has been a settlement of the pre-Columbian Maya.
When the land was purchased by thePRIVATE INVESTORS, it did not seem to be unusual. However, the cenotes and sinkholes were discovered after the land was being prepared for the constructions. Architect Miguel Quintana Pali immediately got the idea of creating an Ecological Park, which would apply these natural wonders.
That is how the idea turned into reality and more. The designers also decided to make a theme park based on recreating the Mayan pyramids and other buildings, found in the area. So as the result, today we have the park that blends nature with an authentic architecture.
The visitors can swim and snorkel in the Caribbean Sea and in the river, that goes through the Mayan village. Many more attractions entertain the visitors: swimming with the dolphins and exploring the reef, bird pavilion, bat cave, island of jaguars and many more. And the park itself, which is a replica of Mayan village, introduce to the history, architecture, dance and games of the Maya civilization.
