The Whitehaven’s name comes from the white sand, which consists of 98% pure silica, that gives a bright color. It was drifted here by waves hitting the Great Barrier Reef for millions of years. Furthermore, this sand does not keep the heat, so it is pleasant to walk on it even on the hottest days.
