Top reasons to visit Slovenia are the varying terrain it offers its travellers. Slovenia is one of those undersized European countries. Despite its belittling area, it has a surprisingly diverse terrain ranging from coastal beaches to treacherous peaks. Its small size may be seen as an advantage by budget travellers whether they are short on money, time, or both. With little land area, it takes less time and cash to travel from one city to another and explore attractions.
Lake Bled, Slovenia
Lake Bled is one of the top reasons to visit Slovenia. You can swim at any of its beaches along the shore. In the middle of this peaceful lake is an island with lush greenery and the charming Bled Castle. You may reach it by renting a boat or riding the Pletna. Scenic mountains surround Lake Bled and add to its fairy tale aura but they are also available for hiking and climbing. Lake Bohinj of the Triglav National Park has less greenery and lacks the charms of Lake Bled but it provides more excitement through rowing, skiing, and other adrenaline-pumping activities.
Velika Planina is a high altitude plateau near the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Its main highlight is the sheperd’s village which has unique, tent-like cottages. However, you may also admire neighboring mountains from the top. Skiing opportunities are also available during winter. For a completely different view, you should come see the Postojna Cave. Extending 20,500 meters long, this karst cave system is the second longest in the country next to Migovec.

The Strunjan Landscape Park is another must-see destination in Slovenia if you want to see just how diverse its terrain is. Its three main attractions are Moon Bay, the Secovlje Salt-Pans, and Cacti Garden. Moon Bay has a crescent-shaped peninsula, likely to be the origin of its name. Secovlje Salt-Pans is an active salt pan. The Cacti Garden is a landscaped piece of land with a variety of cacti species ranging from small to large ones.
