MONTENEGRO: THE UP AND COMING BALTIC GEM

Montenegro is a beautiful Balkan nation and is proudly taking its position as the new Baltic gem with numerous treasures awaiting your discovery. Since breaking its ties to Serbia it is embarking on a new era as Europe’s newest travel hotspot. It offers unspoilt glacial lakes, quaint ancient towns, alpine peaks and coastline worth writing home about. The growing demand for holiday property due to increasing numbers of visitors has led to the recent great developments such as the magnificent golf course underway on the impressive bay of Kotor which is also home to some of the best Montenegro hotels.
One of the most recent developments is the rebirth of Sveti Stefan. This luxurious resort which was once a tiny fishing village in the 15th century has been refurbished into a glamorous hotel without destroying its original charm. The Aman resorts and hotels have undertaken the task of making Sveti Stefan Island the most ultra glamorous destination in Montenegro. In the sixties and seventies it Sveti Stefan was the destination for movie stars, play boys and jetsetters. It is slowly but surely regaining its grand status. The aristocrats have already started being impressed by this rebirth and have started trickling in.
Tivat is already up and coming, once a Yugoslav Navy Shipyard it is already taking shape as developers who include Canadian and Russian billionaires are transforming this historical town into a luxury touristic hotspot. They are promoting this region with lavish apartments, restaurants, hotel and berths for magnificent yachts’ that the elite will be using to explore the glittering Adriatic Sea.
It is not easy to leave out the UNESCO World Heritage site the old walled town of Kotor. You can wander through the streets and explore the Venetian architecture that crowns this little gem. If you wish to explore this town further you can stay in it and enjoy the Montegrin hospitality and food. The experience is exhilarating as you enjoy the past in the present.
The Lustica Peninsula is dotted with hidden gems of beaches, you can take a boat ride and explore this spectacular coastline and find yourself in an isolated beach surrounded by magnificent views. This region is also upcoming with a Swiss developer together with the Montegrin government are making big steps towards an extravagant resort complex that will include marinas, a golf course, several hotels, apartments, shops and holiday villas. It will add to the already growing demand for holiday accommodations in Montenegro,
Though much attention is paid to the coastal Montenegro, another place that is gaining popularity away from crowds is Skadar Lake up on the mountains. It offers different beach experiences in a much calmer environment. Taking a dip in the fresh waters of the lake is refreshing and feels luxurious after swimming in the salty Mediterranean. As most of Montenegro is drastically changing, it is worth visiting now when most sites remain unspoilt. Take advantage of the tranquility and peace and enjoy the views  like this from the top before great developments take place along the Skadar Lake.
