Cap de Formentor – a Stunning Promontory in Mallorca, Spain
Cap de Formentor, Mallorca, Spain. One of the most popular destinations among the Balearic Islands, Mallorca fascinates not only with the white sandy beaches and warm Mediterranean Sea. There are plenty of picturesque natural sites, Cap de Formentor being one of them. The working lighthouse is a signature feature of the cape.
Found on the the northernmost tip of Mallorca, Cap de Formentor features precipitous cliffs, that protrude up to 384 m above the sea. The lighthouse was built in the 19th century and demanded a lot of energy, because of the mountainous landscape. Today it is one of the most beautiful features on the peninsula.
Why to go there?
Great views are the main reason to visit the site. There is a cafe and a gift shop at the lighthouse.
When to go there?
All year round – Mallorca drops into the pleasant Mediterranean climate zone.
How to get there?
By car. It is located 25 km from Port de Pollença.
