The Old City Stockholm – Sweden

A famous quote by Anais Nin goes as, “We travel, some of us forever, to seek other places, other lives, other souls.” The quote fits well for the city of Stockholm which has a history that dates back to the Stone Age, sixth millennium BC. The city was founded by Birger Jari, an honored Swedish statesman, in 1252. Stockholm the capital city of Sweden is composed of fourteen islands which is located along the coast of Lake Malaren and the Baltic Sea.

The Stockholm is on top in the list of the most populous cities of the Nordic Region. The region is home to a population of 914,909 people. The urban and metropolitan states of the population are 1.4 million in the urban area while 2.2 million in the metropolitan area. The Stockholm has gone through major changes since sixth millennium B.C till now. This transition over the years has gifted the people of Stockholm with a rich culture of insightful literature and impressive architecture.

The cathedral from the thirteenth century is another remarkable attraction of the Stockholm. Another notable feature of the Stockholm city is its transport system. You can enjoy the rides in Ferries and boats as they are the mode of transport that is opted to reach different part of the city. Other than that you will find more than 50 significant bridges that connect several parts of the city Stockholm. The Stockholm Metro which was inaugurated in 1950 is known to be the world’s longest art gallery as the decoration of stations is outstanding. If you are looking for a place where there is literally a lot to explore then Stockholm is one of them.
