The climate of Mount Cook and its surroundings is an important factor that shapes the climbing conditions for mountaineers. Mount Cook due to its elevation receives substantial orographic precipitation throughout the year. You will find breezy and moisture-laden westerly winds blowing all year-round. The rain is caused due to the rainclouds formed from the Tasman Sea. In order to plan a visit you must first check the weather of the place.
