TOP TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN ISLE OF MAN

From ancient monuments to scenic landscapes, visiting the top tourist attractions in Isle of Man is a unique and wonderful experience.  Isle of Man, or Mann, is it is usually called, is an island within the British Isles, right in between of Ireland and Great Britain.  This tiny Island in the in the Irish Sea has a rich and colourful history, dating way back from the Last Ice Age.

Here are some of the top tourist attractions in the Isle of Man.
Ancient Landmarks
Isle of Mann’s long and colourful history is evidenced by ancient landmarks that scatter around the island.  Case in point, the Manx Stone Cross collection showcases about 200 decorated headstones and gravemarkers.  The oldest headstones feature Celtic designs with simple or elaborately designed crosses and Celtic inscriptions.
Meayll Hill not only provides a breathtaking view of Isle of Man’s lush greenery.  It is also an important historical site.  In this archeological site, you’ll find 12 burial cambers within an 18 foot ring and strewn around the chambers are shards of pottery, flint tools and burnt bones.
Another important excavation site in Isle of Man is the Balladoole.  Among its great archeological finds is the Viking burial ship dating way back 10th Century AD, which was discovered in 1945.  Inside the 36 feet Viking ship is the body of a man and a woman.
Last but not the least, the well-preserved Cashtal yn Ard is a giant, communal Neolithic tomb which dates back 2000 BC.

The castles found within Isle of Man not only allows you a glimpse of the ancient fortresses but also lets you experience how it is to live back in the Medieval times.

If you’re brave enough, you can also take the Ghost Tour, where you can explore all the haunted sites in Isle of Man.  Included in the tour is a visit to Peel Castle where the terrifying apparition of the a ghostly dog haunts.

One of the most beautiful sites in Isle of Man is the Niarbyl Visitor Centre.  It is located in the west of the Island, where you can be treated to a breathtaking view of the rolling hills, the local marine fauna and the marvellous sunset.
