TOP DESTINATIONS IN NICARAGUA

The top destinations in Nicaragua may not come off as attractions that involve a whole lot of luxury. But you’d be surprised at what this country has to offer in that aspect. Nicaragua is the largest county in Central America and is well-known for being an ecotourism spot. So adventure seekers don’t need to question whether or not they can indulge in adventure pursuits. However, those who are into extravagant experiences may find the prospect unsecured given the country’s agricultural background. Nevertheless, Nicaragua does provide all the amenities you will need for a comfortable and safe vacation. So without further ado, here are the highlights that you should seek out in the territory.

Among the top destinations in Nicaragua are its mountain ranges and beautiful, coral blue coastlines, with Montelimar providing the best example for the latter with its 3 kilometer stretch of white sand beach. It is found on the Pacific coast and is served by the Barcelo Hotel and Resort, which provides top-of-the-line services to guests. And then, there’s the Corn Islands, which are located 70 kilometers offshore, on the Caribbean. Avid divers will certainly get a kick out of the biodiversity it presents with lobsters, shrimps, spotted eagle rays and green sea turtles. And those who have a knack of the morbid can seek out barracudas, nurse sharks and hammerheads in the coral reefs. The Islets of Granada offer a  different environment since it is set in the middle of Lake Nicaragua and was formed through a volcano (Mombacho) explosion. And what’s nice about this last entry is that it has a nearby fort (San Pablo) you could visit to start building an appreciation for colonial architecture.
If you wish to follow it up, you could check out the Leon Cathedral, a 17th century religious structure renowned for being the Basilica Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin mary. It is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the ruins of Leon Viejo. The Old Cathedral of Managua would also make a great addition to your itinerary as far as architectural top destinations in Nicaragua goes. Of course, you shouldn’t ignore the natural reserves this country hosts as there are a lot of them that are worth visiting. There’s the Apoyo Lagoon Natural Reserve where you can encounter wildlife such as jaguardins, howlers, anteaters and white-faced Capuchin monkeys and pursue fun endeavors like paragliding kayaking and hiking; and the Los Guatusos Wildlife Refuge, which is the only internationally registered tropical wetland in the country.
