Painted Hills, Oregon, USA. The stunning site is part of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Its name comes from the colorful layers – a result of various geological eras. The scientists also find a lot of fossils, that prove it once being a lush area. It took millions of years of erosion, climate change and other natural forces to create these stunning hills.
The rugged landscape attracts thousands of tourists as well as photographers. During a wet season yellow, orange and red stripes become especially vibrant.
