McWay Falls – an Ocean Waterfall in a Picturesque Cove, USA

McWay Falls – an Ocean Waterfall in a Picturesque Cove, USA
McWay Falls, Big Sur, California, USA. Found in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, it is also known as a „tidefalls“, because it cascades directly into the ocean when the tide is in. A couple of decades ago it used to plunge into the ocean, however, its direction slightly changed after a fire and landslides.
The 26 m (84 ft) high waterfall is found in the scenic cove, which can be admired from above via the Waterfall Trail. The beach itself can be reached by boat – there is no direct and easy access by land. The site is often visited by the travelers, driving the Highway 1, on their way from San Francisco to Los Angeles or vice versa.
Why to go there?
Very picturesque waterfall and surroundings.
When to go there?
Anytime – the waterfall flows all year round.
How to get there?
Drive Highway 1 and than hike the Waterfall Trail, which begins from a parking lot.
