Lake Bled – a Picturesque Alpine Retreat in Slovenia
Lake Bled, Bled, Slovenia. The lake is situated in the Julian Alps – a mountain range in Slovenia – and is famous for the picturesque surroundings and historic buildings. On the Bled Island in the middle of the lake a church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary was built in the 17th century. It is a popular church among Slovenians, tourists and newlyweds.
Besides the beautiful sanctuary, Bled Castle also adds up extra charm to the landscape. The Medieval castle stands high on a rock, protruding above the lake. It is open for the visitors to view. As for the lake it is very popular among the rowers. Four World Rowing Championships were held here due to the pleasant conditions, suitable for rowing.

How to get there?
Lake Bled is only 35 km from Ljubljana International Airport and 55 km from Ljubljana.
