Thikse Gompa (Thikse Monastery), Ladakh, India. Tibetan Buddhist monastery situated in India fascinates with its beauty and traditional Buddhist architecture. The impressive complex has 12 stories and is built at an altitude of 3,600 m (11,800 ft).
Built in 15th century, the monastery also houses a nunnery. Thikse Gompa is also known for its resemblance to the Potala Palace, which is the most important building in Lhasa, Tibet. The tourists get to visit the monastery, the Maitreya temple and meet with the monks.
