Ban Gioc – the Fourth Largest Waterfall on the Border

Ban Gioc – the Fourth Largest Waterfall on the Border
Ban Gioc, China, Vietnam. The spectacular cascade marks a border between two countries. Originally two waterfalls get divided into several smaller plunges because of the rocks, that separate them. It is the fourth largest waterfall after Iguazu, Victoria and Niagara Falls, that mark a national border.
The Tongling Gorge, which is found nearby the falls, used to serve as a secret place for the local thugs. Their hidden treasures are still found here after years of decaying. A lot of endemic plant species are also found in these wonderful surroundings. The double waterfall is best admired from the Vietnamese side, but also can be reached from China.
Why to go there?
The falls as well as surroundings are indeed beautiful and unique.
When to go there?
All year round.
How to get there?
It is 85 km from Cao Bằng, 272 km from Hanoi. Buses from around the country go there.
