The Ouzoud Waterfalls located near the grand Atlas village Tanaghmeilt, is an enchanting place to spend some time either alone or with family. The Ouzoud Waterfalls (French: Cascades d’Ouzoud) is located at a distance of 150 km from Marrakech, Morocco. The water splashes from a height of 110 meter height.
The name Ouzoud is given due to the presence of frequent mills in the region. The literal meaning of the Ouzoud is “the act of grinding grain”. The Ouzoud Waterfalls is adorned with the plantation of olive trees at the bottom. And near the top of the Ouzoud Waterfalls small mills are present which are owned by the locals. There are several tracks that can be followed by the travelers, one is through Beni Mellal and the other is Wadi el-Abid.
The Ouzoud Waterfalls is the most visited site of the Marrakech, Morocco. The Ouzoud Waterfalls are popular because of the breath taking green valleys, traditional mills and beautiful orchards filled with different flora. Another attraction of the place includes circuit of the gorges of the El Abid River (in Arabic, “Slaves’ River”). The site is also used for varying several projects to preserve the beauty of this place.
The Google rating for the Ouzoud Waterfalls is 4 stars. The place is highly appreciated by the travelers. The drive from Marrakech is about 2.5 hour but it is said to be worth the experience. The site of water falling from the height is amazing and the beauty is simply commendable. There is a bridge at the bottom as well. The place is simply a soothing one to relax and enjoy the weather in the natural surroundings.
