The Plitvice Lakes National Park situated in Croatia, is amongst the most popular and most visited tourist attraction. It was also established as a UNESCO World Heritage in the year 1979. It covers an area of almost 300 square kilometers and its lakes cover an area of almost 8 kilometers. Plitvice Lakes is roughly situated about halfway between Zagreb, the capital city and Zadar which is on the coast. This national park is a series of beautifully interconnected lakes with stunning waterfalls, sixteen to be precise. Set deep within woodland which also consist of wolves, dears, bears and rare species of birds, Plitvice Lakes is definitely a must visit place.
When to visit
The park has two entrances, titled Entrance 1 and Entrance 2. Entrance 2 is closed during winters
• The park is open every day throughout the year
• Daily working timings are 7am to 8pm
• Entrance fee is chargeable as a contribution towards the park’s maintenance
• Fee per adult is 80 Kunas from November to March and 110 Kunas from April to October
• Free entry for children between 7 -18 years
• Discount tickets available for a group of more than 15
