Bandipur National Park is situated in one of Karnataka’s district called Chamarajnagar. It is one of the most famous sanctuaries and a very major tourist attraction in India, which is very well known for its wild life.

Bandipur National Park has forest area of 865 square kilometers and has been declared a national park in the year 1974. The vegetation found in this national park is scrub land, deciduous and evergreen. It is very famous for its protected sandalwood trees.

Bandipur National Park is 45 minutes safari. Because private vehicles are not allowed inside the sanctuary you need to use a permitted vehicle with a guard and a driver, inside the sanctuary. The vehicles offered there are a bus and an open jeep.
The 20 minutes elephant rides at Bandipur National park are very famous amongst kids as they love it.
A must see in Bandipur National park
Gopalswamy Betta is the highest peak on Bandipur national park. It is 1454 meters above sea level and is blessed with a 13 century fort of Palegars of Terakanambi. The view from the peak is simply amazing.
How to get there
You can reach Bandipur National Park by road. You can go there by a state transport bus or take your private car. It takes approximately 2 ½ hour to get there by road from Mysore and it takes 3 hours to get there from Ooty.
The closest railway junction is the Mysore junction that is 65kms away and the closet international airport is the software Mecca of Bangalore which is 204kms from the national park.
