This pastel-colored passageway of wisteria flowers at the Kawachi Fuji Gardens in Kitakyushu in Japan is absolutely mind blowing. A member of the pea family, wisteria is an ornamental vine, wildly popular in both Eastern and Western gardens for its graceful hanging flowers and its ornate, winding branches. The best time to see it is from late April to mid May.
Lavender Field, Sequim, Washington
If you want to see endless fields of purple, head to Sequim, located on the northern Olympic Peninsula of Washington State, where the lavender fields seem to stretch forever. They’re in full bloom generally from June through September, so it’s not too late to visit this year. Beginning on Friday on the third weekend in July, thousands of people arrive to celebrate the lavender at the three day annual Sequim Lavender Festival.
