LUXEMBOURG CITY

Luxembourg City is the capital of the small country which shares its name. Most of the nation’s history can be found within the city.
The most popular destination within the country is the Luxembourg Castle which was built back in the middle ages by the Franks. There are nearly 100,000 people who call Luxembourg City their home, making it the most populated city in the country.

VIANDEN CASTLE

Located in the northeaster part of Luxembourg, you will find the village of Vianden. It is only home to a little more than 1,500 permanent residents, but nonetheless is one of the more popular destinations in the small nation.

ECHTERNACH

LAROCHETTE

ESCH-SUR-ALZETTE

Situated in the southwestern portion of Luxembourg, the city of Esch-sur-Alzette is considered to be the second largest in the nation.
The city is situated along the banks of the Alzette River. It is here that the border with France can be found and as such, the city is also a major transportation hub for the country.

BEAUFORT

Situated in the eastern part of the nation, the small town of Beaufort is a picturesque place to visit.
Known for its 11th century castle that is surrounded by a most, While there were several additions constructed around the castle in the 12th century, much of the original building is fully intact.

DIEKIRCH

You will find the city of Diekirch in the northeastern part of the country, located along the Sauer River banks.
The city played a crucial role in the infamous Battle of the Bulge and is even home to the popular National Museum of Military History. Those who visit the city will also enjoy checking out the city’s brewery as well.

DIFFERDANGE

You will find the city of Differdange situated in the southwestern part of Luxembourg. It is a highly industrialized city which is responsible for much of the nation’s steel industry.
Here, the city borders with both France as well as Belgium. While the original 14th century castle is in ruins, the popular 16th century Differdange Castle that stands proudly in the city is used by an American University.

BOURSCHEID

The small town of Bourscheid can be found in the northeastern part of the country.

The fourth most populated city in the country can be found near the French border. Home to a number of smaller towns, the city of Dudelange is a popular destination in the country thanks in part to the historic Mont Saint-Jean Castle.
While there are only ruins today, the castle is still a very popular place in the country.

ETTELBRUCK

You will find the city of Ettelbruck in the central portion of Luxembourg. There are many great things to see and do when visiting the city.
Anyone who chooses to visit the country cannot leave until making a stop in this picturesque city before the go. You will find a number of small towns of Grentzingen and Warken located along the outskirts of the city.

ESCH-SUR-SÛRE

In the northwestern portion of the country, you will find the small town of Esch-sur-Sûre nestled along the banks of the Sauer River.
Just outside of the town of only 300 residents is where you will find the magnificent town castle. Here you will also find the manmade Sûre Lake which was created as a means of providing drinking water and electricity to the region.

LITTLE SWITZERLAND

Known simply as Little Switzerland, this region of Luxembourg has become a popular destination in the country as a result of the thick forests and craggy rocks which are often associated with Switzerland’s picturesque landscapes.
While the highest peak in the area is only 414 meters above sea level, it is nonetheless a beautiful region of Luxembourg to visit.

GREVENMACHER

Situated along the nation’s border with Germany, the city of Grevenmacher is a very popular destination in Luxembourg. The city can be found nestled along the banks of the Moselle River.
Known mostly for its wines, there are vineyards as far as the eyes can see in the area that surrounds the city. Countless people make their way to the area every single year to taste the many fine wines produced in Grevenmacher.

WILTZ

The city of Wiltz can be found in the northwestern portion of the country. Situated along the picturesque Wiltz River, the city played a crucial role during the infamous World War II Battle of the Bulge.

RUMELANGE

KIRCHBERG

Along the northeastern part of Luxembourg City is a small quarter known as Kirchberg.

REMICH

You will find the city of Remich in the southeastern part of the nation.
Situated along the Moselle River banks which separate Luxembourg from Germany, the city has become a popular destination over the years due in part to its role in the Moselle Valley wine industry. There are countless wineries and vineyards which can be found in the surrounding countryside.
