10. Etretat
Including a famous natural arch, the Étretat is a small coastal village best known for its cliffs. Including Gustave Courbet and Claude Monet, the fabulous sea cliffs and the associated resort beach attracted many famous artists. Sparked with quartz geodes, the pebbled beach is wrapped in dramatic cliffs eroded into huge formations and offshore needles. You can see two of the arches from the town, a walk at low tide are required to see a third one.
9. Paracas Sea Cliffs
Located on the southern coast of Peru, the Paracas National Reserve is a popular nature reserve and beach destination. The reserve is home to many species of wildlife, principally birds, which are largely concentrated at the edge of the water. The beaches are fringed by sea cliffs that provide a home to thousands of these. Without a visit to scenic Playa Roja or Red Beach named after the red sand of volcanic origin, a trip to Paracas is not complete.
8. White Cliffs of Dover
One of the most incredible sea cliffs in the world, the White Cliffs of Dover spread east and west from the port town of Dover. Because they face towards France across the narrowest part of the English Channel, the cliffs have great symbolic value for Britain. The cliffs form a symbolic guard against the invasions that historically threatened here. At 107 meters (351 feet) high, the cliff face owes its striking white color to its composition of chalk accentuated by streaks of black flint.
7. Látrabjarg
Látrabjarg is one of the three largest bird cliffs in Iceland. The other two are Hornbjarg andHælavíkurbjarg. At 14 km long and up to 440 meter (1443 feet) high, as a road leads practically to the cliff’s edge, Látrabjarg is by far the easiest of the three to visit. It is appropriate that Látrabjarg itself is at the end of a road, as the end of a continent marking the most western part of Europe is marked by it.
6. Bunda Cliffs
One of the many dramatic sea cliffs of long coastline of Australia is the Bunda Cliffs. Bunda Cliffs is a native name used for the Nullarbor coastal cliffs. At some 60 (200 ft) to 120 meters (400 ft) high, the sea cliffs extend for around 100 km along the Great Australian Bight near its northern boundary and are close to the Nullarbor Plain in a very thinly settled area of Australia. The coast line of the Great Australian Bight is characterized by surfing beaches and rock platforms besides cliffs, which are ideal for whale-watching.
5. Cabo Girao
Located in the southern part of the Madeira Islands, the CaboGirão is 570 meters (1,870 ft) high. The cliff is often referred to as the highest sea cliff in Europe but at least three European cliffs are higher. Nonetheless, the sight down the almost sheer drop to the ocean is exhilarating. You can reach the terraced fields that can be seen beneath the cliff only by boat before. A cable car was installed on the slope of the cliff in 2003 so farmers can reach these low-lying fields.
4. Acantilados de Los Gigantes
Acantilados de Los Gigantes means the “Cliffs of the Giants”. They are sea cliffs located along the western coast of the Canary Island Tenerife. In some places the almost vertical walls reach heights of 500 meters (1640 ft) and represent the highest cliffs of the Canaries. Los Gigantes lie across a small bay. It is a little port and resort town which features a black sand beach and a marina. You can take a boat ride from the marina out to the foot of the Los Gigantes cliffs where you can truly understand the enormity and beauty of these dramatic sea cliffs.
3. Fira
Santorini is a Greek Island. The island is famous for its dramatic views, stunning sunsets, the white-washed houses, and its very own active volcano. Fira is the capital of Santorini. The city is a marriage of Venetian and Cycladic architecture, whose white cobblestone streets bustle with shops, tavernas, hotels and cafes while clinging on the edge of the 400 meter (1,300 ft) high sea cliffs. It is one of the most incredible sea cliffs in the world.
2. Kalaupapa Cliffs
Kalaupapa is a village located on the Hawaiian island of Molokai. As recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records, the village is positioned at the base of the highest sea cliffs in the world dropping about 1,010 meters (3,315 feet) into the Pacific Ocean. The movie Jurassic Park III featured views of these incredible sea cliffs. Kalaupapa is not accessible by car because of the steep cliffs and surrounding ocean. Visitors are transported by trail descending along the cliffs to Kalaupapa. Everyday some of the workers at the village also travel on foot on this trail.
1. Cliffs of Moher
The Cliffs of Moher are widely considered to be one of the top tourist attractions of Ireland. The cliffs are amongst the most impressive coastlines in the world drawing almost one million visitors each year. This incredible sea cliffs rise 120 meters (394 ft) above the Atlantic Ocean at Hag’s Head, and just north of O’Brien’s Tower, which is eight kilometers away, they reach their maximum height of 214 meters (702 ft). Many animals live on the sea cliffs. Birds are the most in numbers with an estimated 30,000 birds, which represent more than 20 species.
