Beach towns of Egypt

Dahab

Situated on the Eastern coast of the Sinai peninsula, this beautiful beach town overlooks the Gulf of Agaba and is renowned for its diving. It has been branded the chill-out zone of the Sinai, with its relaxed beach cafés, private beaches and self-contained holiday villages scattered about Dahab Bay. For those hungering for more adventure this is the perfect base to access the headland’s coral reef or to explore the rugged landscape on a jeep or camel safari.

Na’ama Bay, Sharm el Sheikh

This bustling resort offers an altogether different experience. As the country’s premier tourist resort and included on many egypt travel packages it has a lot to offer any visitor Resplendent with luxury hotels, atmospheric bars (including a Hard Rock Café) and lively clubs, it is the ideal base for tourists who love their nightlife. Daytimes are spent relaxing on one of the private segments of beach or exploring the majestic coral gardens. However, it’s the evening when thing s really come alive. As well as the energy-fused clubs and bars there are also several cafés where you can enjoy some shisha and indulge in some people watching.

Taba

“The Gateway to Sinai” is ideal for divers and snorkellers, with its beautiful beaches, stunning reefs and crystal-clear waters. Situated just 75 km North of Nuweiba, tourism in the area has peaked recently since the building of the new International Airport. As well as the beautiful bays, stunning coastline and glorious reefs Taba is also situated close to other magnificent places. The Fjord lies just 15 km South of Taba and is a glorious location, brimming with natural wonder. It is a protected bay and is a place of true natural beauty with its exceptional coral reefs and delightful scenery. The incredible Coloured Canyon is only 50 km away and is a real sight to behold offering a breathtaking array of intense hues.

Alexandria

As the second largest city ion Egypt you would expect it to be inundated with tourists.  However, it is much more popular with the Egyptians and the hotels and attractions are aimed at them.  It boasts wide stretches of stunning beach and remarkable scenery. Although it is just over 200 km from Cairo it has a distinct feel to it that differs from the rest of Egypt. It is much more Mediterranean in flavour.  It is certainly worth visiting for its unusual atmosphere. Fans of literature will associate this pretty town with the works of E.M. Forster and Greek poet Cavafy.

Marakia

For a more holiday resort try Marakia the oldest of the new North Coast, it was originally named Marmarina after the Arabic for marble Marmar.  The beach is the main feature of this resort, with its rich azure sea and stunning clean sands. Located just 50 km from Alexandria this is a great base to visit other towns or alternatively a pleasant choice for those wanting to indulge in a beach holiday.

Hurghada

This town is a bustling tourist resort but was once a sleepy little Red Sea fishing village with a number of great beaches. Despite its recent popularity (and being included on quite a few tours to egypt) it still maintains its former charm and sense of the traditional. It is the ideal place for the experienced and novice diver alike and offers some stunning marine life as well as beautiful reefs to explore. This is the perfect resort for those who appreciate the historic charm of Egypt as well as the natural beauty and still want modern conveniences and comforts.
