Naxos – the Largest Island of Many Faces in the Cyclades, Greece

Naxos, Greece. Another gorgeous island of the Cyclades, the largest one, along with Santorini and Mykonos found in the Aegean Sea. It is less touristy compared to its famous neighbors, yet that might be the most satisfying thing about it. One can find much more authenticity, fields of olive trees, fishing business and archeological wonders as well.
The island boasts a great natural diversity – from high mountains, marble quarries, fertile valleys to striking beaches – there is a lot to discover here. Numerous activities from hiking to kiteboarding and water sports can be enjoyed in Naxos. In addition, tourists can explore historic heritage in the towns, which include Venetian mansions, ancient Apollon’s Gate, arcades, Catholic cathedral and a museum full of Cycladic figurines.
Why to go there?
Naxos is really good for those, who want to relax on the beach as well as to participate in a variety of outdoor activities. It also provides rich historic heritage to be discovered.
When to go there?
From spring to early autumn. After September most of the tourist facilities close down and the weather gets a bit tempestuous.
How to get there?
Get there by plane from Athens or Klagenfurt and Graz, Austria. Get there by ferry from the mainland or the Cyclades.
