THINGS TO DO AND SEE IN BARBADOS ISLAND

Barbados is a Caribbean island off the northeast coast of Venezuela. It was a British settlement from 1627 until the early 1800s. Today, locals call it Little Britain. Even though they fought for independence, locals freely embrace their island’s British roots. As with any Caribbean island, Barbados has some of the best beaches in the world. They are unspoiled by humans and home to a thriving marine life. Before travelling to Barbados, you must have a grasp of the things you can do and see while you’re there.

The island’s beaches are not only there for swimming. Local marine life can be further explored through snorkelling and scuba diving. You can have a picnic or embark on cliffhanging hikes along the shore. Meanwhile, the sea has strong currents which are ideal for surfing. A more unique way of discovering underwater life would be to join submarine tours. You get to ride a real submarine which dives down 50 meters below sea level. Cruises and Segway tours are also available in Barabos Island.
One of the top reasons to visit Barbados is its healthy nightlife. This is particularly true on the south coast where bars and clubs are located. The western coast of the island has more relaxed vibes with its pubs and wine bars. Either way, both will fill your nights with hours of fun. When it comes to eating, eat dishes with seafood in them like shellfish and snappers. Flying fish is a national emblem in local cuisine and something you should consider trying during trip to Barbadoos.

The Mount Gay Rum Distillery in Bridgetown, Saint Michael is a definite must-see. The distillery is the maker of Mount Gay Rum, the island’s famous libation. The tour lasts about 45 minutes and includes rum tasting. If you’re not so much into rum, you can visit the Flower Forest for a daytime walk. A wide array of spice trees and exotic flowers grow there. Alternatives to the Flower Forest are Farley Hill National Park and the Andromeda Botanical Garden. These gardens still offer the quiet respite of Flower Forest minus the strong scent of its blooms.
The Sunbury Plantation House gives you the chance to see how colonial life was like in Barbados many years ago. St. Nicholas Abbey, a unique Jacobean mansion, is also reminiscent of the island’s colonial days.
