BLACKPOOL

In spite of the lack of local tourism effort, the top reasons to visit Blackpool are no less impressive than those found in other English vacation destinations. In fact, they are very much as competitive and notable as the famous alternative ones being promoted in multiple media. And this is why over 12 million people visit it yearly. As a seaside resort situated along the Irish Sea, tourist can definitely look forward to a lot of beach retreats and activities. But what makes it a more exciting retreat is the fact that you can enjoy a multi-layered vacation experience here.

It was back in the 1840’s when Blackpool rose to prominence as a tourist spot thanks to the newly built railway that connected it to the more industrialized regions of England. And since it was cheaper than the alternatives, people started flocking to it for summer excursions. Eventually, immigration interests rose and people began settling in. And as the population grew, it gave rise to commercialization. And eventually piers, funhouses, trams, concession stands and theaters became a norm. By the mid-19th century, Blackpool’s reputation was finally cemented as “the archetypal British seaside resort”. And it never seized to lure people in.
Among the top reasons to visit Blackpool that locals endorse is Pleasure Beach, which is a family owned resort and amusement park. Located along Fylde coast, it is tagged as one of the top twenty most-visited amusement parks in the world, raking in 5.5 million guests yearly. And up until now, it is continually being developed, with management adding new highlights to draw in crowds (Nickelodeon Land in 2011).
Here, visitors have the advantage of enjoying rides and games and at the same time chill out by the beach in just one setting. And it’s not the type of recreational facility that’s strictly for teens or adults because there are a number of features there that also complement families with small kids.  As an alternative, folks can also check out Sandcastle Water Park, which is UK’s largest indoor waterpark and have their children play in a more controlled environment.

In addition to the above, there’s the Blackpool Tower that offers visitors a great view of the city’s skyline. There’s the Sea Life Center and Blackpool Zoo that features several local and foreign aquatic and land-based wildlife. And there’s Louis Tussauds Wax Works that allow guests to hob knob with replicas of famous historical and contemporary political, social and cultural figures of the world. If you wish to indulge in shopping, there’s Bonny Street Market as well as several botiques in North and South Pier. And for artistic performances, there’s the Grand Theater, which hosts a lot of plays as well as dances, and Funny Girls, which basically showcases cabaret numbers. Yes, these top reasons to visit Blackpool may not come across as sophisticated. But as mentioned earlier they are neither less impressive nor entertaining. So if you have the chance, don’t miss out on having a piece of the fun.
