Oman weather: Dust storm, low visibility to prevail over most parts of the Sultanate

Muscat: Hazy conditions will prevail over most parts of the Sultanate with chances of dust rising over different governorates, deserts and open.

In its latest 24 hour forecast, Oman meteorological department on Sunday predicted dusty weather in the Sultanate. "There are chances of low clouds or formation of fog patches late in the night and early morning along the southeastern coast," the prediction added.

On Sunday evening, many motorists in Muscat complained about low visibility due to dusty weather conditions.

How to stay safe during a sandstorm 

Similar sandstorms were experienced in other GCC countries also. Sandstorm which developed in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and UAE brought life to a standstill.

According to Indian media reports, Gulf dust storm has resulted in haze across Maharashtra, the western Indian state. "Dusty weather has been experienced in the state with the major regions affected being Mumbai, Konkan, Raigad and parts of North Maharashtra such as Nashik and Nagar districts. It has also been seen in western parts of Pune district," the Indian media has reported, quoting Indian meteorological department.
