Flight delays continue after heavy fog disrupts Sydney Airport traffic; passengers urged to check with airlines

Sydney Airport is still experiencing delays and passengers are being urged to check flight details with their airlines, following this morning's heavy fog.
An airport spokeswoman said while the fog had disappeared, there was still a knock-on effect for some domestic and international flights and airlines were trying to catch up.
Up to 10 flights were diverted to other capital cities.
Those flights were due to arrive during the course of the day.
An airport spokeswoman said departures had also been affected, with delays of up to an hour for some flights.
Qantas said delays were mainly affecting arrivals, with three international flights diverted this morning.
Flights from Los Angeles and Dallas were diverted to Brisbane, and a flight from Bangkok was diverted to Adelaide.
Virgin Australia said the fog had "caused some delays" but that the airline was "doing our best to get guests on their way as quickly as possible".
Jetstar received complaints from passengers after flight JQ953 from Cairns to Sydney was cancelled due to "operational" reasons.
A Jetstar spokeswoman said the airline offered a range of options for those passengers, including full refund, a seat on the next available flight, and accommodation where required.
"We apologise to those passengers whose travel plans from Cairns to Sydney have been disrupted today and we are very sorry for the inconvenience," she said.
"We are positioning an aircraft in Cairns to operate an ad hoc service for these passengers which will depart for Sydney first thing tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6am."
Prince Harry arrived in Australia on a British Airways flight that touched down in Sydney at 5:00am (AEST).
Captain Wales, who is undertaking a month-long secondment with the Australian Army, then boarded an RAAF jet to Canberra.
