It’s already been an amazing few days as we’ve travelled through California on our American Road Trip. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to share as much with you as we’ve wanted. The United States is a vast land, and as we explore national parks and remote locations like Zion, Yosemite, Joshua Tree and Death Valley, we don’t have as much Internet access as we had hoped.
When we first arrived in San Francisco, we went directly to T-Mobile to purchase personal wifi hotspot so that we could be connected to the Internet throughout our entire road trip through the South Western US. We were so excited to have the opportunity to post our experience in real time. It worked great while we were in San Francisco and we sent out Instagram photos, posted on facebook and twitter and we even managed to put up a post about Tony Bennett before leaving the city.
Little did we know that our cell coverage wasn’t going to last long. It was only a few hours outside of San Francisco that we lost all reception. We weren’t prepared at all. We didn’t leave an auto reply for email, we didn’t schedule any posts to come out over the weekend and we had just made an announcement to all our friends and followers to make sure to follow our hashtag #IntrepidRoadTrip on Twitter to see our snapshots of our American Road Trip with everyone. Suddenly we were unplugged from the world and entering Yosemite National Park.
American Road Trip Unplugged
As travel bloggers you would think we’d be upset by not having Internet. But because the situation was beyond our control, we embraced the chance to disconnect from the world. It is easy to relax in Yosemite. You are surrounded by nature and it has some of the most beautiful scenery we have ever seen in our lives. The view from Glacier Point has probably one of the best mountain views on earth. As we turned a corner driving up a very winding road and caught our first glimpse of the sun starting to set on Half Dome, we both let out an audible gasp. That is stunning!
As I write this, I have so many words swimming in my head to describe the beauty of Yosemite. We are so excited to witness such iconic locations like El Capitan, Half Dome and the famous Drive Through Sequoia Tree. These are places we have only dreamed of seeing and now we are viewing them with our own eyes.
Oh yes, this American Road Trip is definite
