Dargavs also known as ‘ The City of the Dead ‘ is a place situated in Russia’s North Ossetia. This place is hidden in one of the five mountain ridges which cross this region. Dargavs is immersed in several legends and myths. It takes about three hours to reach this place from the nearest airport, Tbilisi Airport and the journey gets quite difficult when traveling through winding, narrow roads, and several hills.
A little History
Lets have some info about the place’s history. The history goes that during the ancient times, the Ossetian people would bury their loved ones here and later it became burial grounds for generations who came later. The small white buildings are crypts of people who are buried there and this Ossetian cemetery has a myth that who goes there never comes back. This is only because it is difficult to reach this area high up in the hills. Each family had their own crypt and people who died in that family was buried in their family crypt.
