UNESCO’s world Heritage site
One such national park is Jiuzhai Valley National Park, which is located in north of Sichuan, south western China. It covers the area around 600 to 720 km. This national park is famous for its waterfalls and colorfully designer lakes. This place has been awarded by UNESCO as a world heritage site. This national park is full of greenery and sheer amount of beautiful sceneries, snow covered peaks, colorful forests, which you can capture in your camera. You can find huge spices of birds as well as animal species too; it includes the world famous giant panda, Sichuan golden monkey among others.
Giant Panda: The Giant Panda is considered as one of the oldest animals of the world that survives to date. The giant panda has been adopted as the symbol for the WWF since it’s formation in 1966.Giant pandas live in very limited areas of China and are a highly protected species.So Jiuzhai Valley National Park is a must visit place for all the Giant Panda lovers around the world,since this park has been one of the famous habitats of this endangered species.
Sichuan Golden monkey: This is another special attraction of Jiuzhai Valley National Park.Its one of the three golden monkey species in the world, lives especially in Sichuan, Shanxi, Gansu and Hubei provinces. A rare species endemic to China, particularly to Jiuzhai Valley, the Sichuan golden monkey is medium sized, has a blue face, brown neck, and golden body hair which is usually over 30cm in length, and has an upward pointing nose.
Lakes at Jiuzhai Valley National Park: –
It has more than 100 lakes; some of the popular lakes are Wolong Lake, Mirror Lake, Multi-Color Lake and many more. Local people call these lakes as ‘Haizi’ in Chinese, which literally means ‘sea’
Wildlife and Population: –
This valley is also called a ‘Nine Village Valley’. Valley has unique and exotic wild life. It has some of the great mountains; where you can you feel echoes of sounds produced by you. The population of the valley is not more than 1500 and consists of mainly Tibetan families. No doubt this valley is known as ‘wonder land on earth’.

Climate at Jiuzhai Valley National Park:-
The weather is very chilly hear especially in winters when mercury even goes -1 °C, otherwise mean annual temperature remains at 7 °C.
Best time to visit: –
You can visit the park anytime in the year. In spring sky is clear and you can enjoy the sunny days, you can look for greenery in summer, however autumn is most breathtaking time, when trees and plants would change different colors. Winter can freeze you, when temperature dip to even -5 °C and this place is known as winter fairyland.

The opening and closing time of the park are: May 1 – November 15 – 7:00am to 6:30pm
November 16 – April 30 – 7:00am to 6:00pm.
