Visit Historic Arch Kintai Bridge – the Symbol of Iwakuni, Japan

Kintai Bridge, Iwakuni, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. Built in 1673 the wooden arch bridge is the popular landmark in the city. Five impeccable arches span the Nishiki River, overlooking Mt.Yokoyama, which hosts historic Iwakuni Castle on top of it.
The unusual architecture was supposed to prevent the bridge from destruction from a flood. However, it has been proven wrong and Kintai has been rebuilt several times. However, for centuries no metal nails were used to construct the bridge, due to the perfectly fitted wooden parts. The bridge heads to the park, whose cherry blossoms attract crowds in spring.
