Sandbridge Beach is the southern part of the city of Virginia Beach. The length beach is about 4.5 miles North to South located by the Back Bay of the Currituck Sound to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, often referred to as “The Outer Banks of Virginia”. One of the biggest attractions to Sandbridge is its relative remoteness and laid back atmosphere when compared to the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Located at the south end of the beach is Little Island city park, which is also the location of Sandbridge Pier.

The park sits on the South Jetty so one side is big surf while the other is the much calmer cove of Half Moon Bay. Many come here for the surfing and kite-boarding or to walk the beach. Westhaven has many shops, a marina and you can enjoy activities such as fishing, clamming, crabbing, beach combing and bird watching. However unfortunately swimming is not advised due to variable currents and strong rip tides.
