They say a picture is worth a thousand words (I am not sure how I feel about that as writer). Well what better way to give the quote justice by showing you fantastic photos from Finland. Don’t worry readers, I have not abandoned my Shakespearean roots to become the next David Bailey but you can get a real feel of a place by looking at a series of images. These photos were taken in the Lake Saimaa region during theFinnish summer.
Finland is full of lakes, thousands in fact and in the summer most Finns will come to their summer cottages and spend their time on the water.
We went fishing on one of the days and I caught the biggest fish in Finland that year! (Bloggers imagination might be used in this sentence.)
The forests in Finland are large and plentiful. The perfect place to unwind and get back to nature.
The forest is also the perfect place to go foraging for the wonderful natural food that Finland has to offer.
Soaking in the wonderful vistas.
I loved the Finnish food: Natural, Local, Tasty.
A lot of the cottages you hire come with their own boats so you can explore the little islands that are dotted around the lakes.
Finland has been dominated by its neighbours Sweden and Russia for centuries. This castle used to be on the border. Now it holds classical concerts and other events.
It certainly has beautiful views!
Bloggers love their sunsets and with ones as spectacular as this, who can blame them.
I was lookin’ back to see if you were lookin’ back at me
To see me lookin’ back at you.
To see me lookin’ back at you.
You are never far from nature in Finland, even in Helsinki and other large cities.
