CAPE PENINSULA DAY TOUR

The stunning Cape Peninsula will take your breath away in more ways than one. Visitors are delighted to experience dramatic landscapes, rolling waves, winding roads along the cape, and of course great opportunities to see South African wildlife up close.

With just two nights in Cape Town, our second day would be enjoyed on a Cape Peninsula day tour encompassing the entire day and making a number of stops along the way. You can choose to experience the Cape Peninsula on a self-guided day tour or by hiring a tour guide to navigate the winding streets for you and offer a running commentary along the way.

The day started with an early pick-up time following a lavish breakfast at More Quarters Hotel in Cape Town. From Cape Town we drove along the Peninsula, stopping to take photos at the various lookout points along the way.

After a few stops for photo opportunities and toilet breaks we reached the magnificent Cape Point Nature Reserve. Unfortunately on this day the weather did not permit photography, but it was great to visit and learn more of the history nonetheless.

From Cape Point we began the long journey back to Cape Town on the alternative side of the coast line and made a number of stops along the way. Given that it had now reached lunch time we stopped at a small seaside village named Simons Town for a light lunch and to thaw out given the rain had now settled in.

Our next stop was to visit Boulders Beach – famous for being one of the most accessible spots in the world to view penguins up close.

The late afternoon would then be a fantastic time to visit Table Mountain if the weather permits, as Cape Town has some fantastic sunsets at this time of year (WOW visited during May). Unfortunately the clouds were too thick to venture up the mountain on this day but luck was on my side the day earlier when the weather was perfect conditions for Table Mountain. Given the temperamental weather conditions at this time of year, be sure to prepare for flexibility in your plans.
