Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland. Town and archipelago on the south coast of the most enigmatic country mesmerizes with its unspoiled and rough beauty. Some islands of the archipelago are populated while others are deserted after a volcano eruption in 1973 or simply because they are too tiny to live on them.
However, there is one tiny island called Elliðaey. A small solitary house is built there, which has caused many amusing speculations. Some raised a theory that it belonged to singer Bjork, others thought it was a home of a mysterious billionaire. The truth is it belongs to a hunting association, that uses this when hunting puffins.
Why to go there?
Go to Iceland and Vestmannaeyjar to admire truly unique nature and various activities this land has to offer.
When to go there?
All year round.
How to get there?
Get to the archipelago and Heimae – the biggest island – by ferry or plane from the mainland. Get around by boat.
