Saxon Switzerland, Dresden, Saxony, Germany. A beautiful climbing area and a national park are situated in the valley, along the Elbe river. Approximately 1000 peaks attract hikers and offer stunning views. The Bastei is especially appealing – it features a bridge, built between the rock towers, and viewpoints on top of them.
The area is a popular climbing attraction for at least 200 years. Free climbing originated from here and developed an extreme tradition of a Baustelle – a technique when others’ shoulders are used to climb over the difficult sections. However, nonprofessional hikers will also have plenty to do and see in this picturesque park.
