Once the wedding present of a queen, the preserved medieval town of Obidos lying 100 km north of Lisbon is without doubt one of Portugal's most classic walled settlements.
Obidos travel, Portugal Tourist Attractions
After Dom Afonso Henriques wrenched the village from the Moors, he offered Obidos as a wedding gift to his betrothed, his beloved Isabel. The village remained the personal property of the queens of Portugal until 1834. Today the town's ramparts, cobblestone streets, and 14th-century facades make Obidos the most romantic spot in Portugal.Taj Mahal
