Levanzo, Italy. The smallest Aegadian Island west of Sicily fascinates with crystal clear turquoise water. Having an area of only 5.82 square kilometers, Levanzo doesn’t have many attractions except for its unspoiled natural beauty. Port is the busiest site and there are hardly any cars or motorized transport on the island – welcome to a good old fishing village.
Despite the size Levanzo has the rarest historic heritage in the world – Grotta del Genovese – a cave with ancient paintings that date back 5-6 thousand years ago. Tourists love to try fresh seafood in the local restaurants, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Other activities include diving and fishing tours, hiking and swimming in the clear blue sea.
Why to go there?
Nice and quiet retreat, fresh seafood, tours to the cave paintings, great views.
When to go there?
Climate is mild all year round.
How to get there?
By boat or ferry from neighboring islands. It is only 5 to 15 minutes away from Favignana and Trapani.
