The Wild Wall, China | The Jinshanling section of the Great Wall of China is more rugged and remote than the carefully preserved wall that tourists are exposed to in Beijing. Instead of vendors and large tour groups, this section of so-called “wild wall” caters to more intrepid adventurers. The further you hike along the wall, the less upkeep you will encounter. Watchtowers, staircases and even the top of the wall itself have begun to crumble after centuries of wind, rain and snow.
