Spitsbergen, Norway | Spitsbergen is the largest and only populated island on the Svalbard Archipelago. This beautiful, barren landscape is famous for its polar bears and its harsh climate. If you visit Spitsbergen in winter, you’ll be treated to glorious ribbons of aurora borealis and the deep darkness of the Arctic winter. Once summer comes, the snow melts to uncover a barren, glaciated landscape where only a few plants and animals can survive.
