Top 10 Best Beaches in Croatia

Croatia is one of the best summer destinations in Europe. But what is a summer destination without great beaches. The Adriatic country never disappoints its visitors, and along with a great variety of coves and bays, the Croatian coast is lined with some of the best beaches not only in Europe but in the world. Here we present our list of the Top 10 Best Beaches in Croatia!

10. Bene Beach

Bene Beach is located close to the city of Split. What makes it unique is the fact that it is situated in the Marjan forest park. There is easy access from the city to the beach and spending a day there is definitely worth it. The pine trees around provide natural shade from the sun so there is no need to look for an umbrella.

9. Stiniva Cove

Situated on the southern side of the Vis Island near the village Marina Zemlja, Stiniva Cove is worth discovering. After a short walk from the picturesque village through a narrow path visitors can find the beach hiding amongst the rocks. It is a small pebbly area, about 30 meters long, but fully deserves to be part of the Top 10 list of Croatian beaches.

8. Sveti Jakov Beach

Sveti Jakov (Saint James) is one of the most popular and beautiful beaches of Dubrovnik. Close to the old town, its name comes from the beautiful church hanging above the bay where the beach is. The view of Dubrovnik and Lokrum from the beach is simply amazing.

7. Lopar (Paradise) Beach

Lopar is a small town on the Island of Rab, which is famous for its sandy beaches, there are 22 of them. Probably the best is Lopar Paradise Beach. It is 1.5 km long and was awarded a Blue flag as a result of its beauty and safety. The finest sand and crystal clear warm water attracts thousands of tourists every year.

6. Banje Beach

Banje is another one of Dubrovnik’s finest beaches. Just a short walk away from the centre of the city, it is a great place for families and kids. Although very popular, the beach is rarely crowded and the view towards the Old town is impressive. Tourists can also rent a pedal boat or just relax at the bar.

Punta Rata is another Croatian beach with a Blue Flag international certificate. It is part of Brela, a small town in Central Dalmatia. The area of the beach is easily accessible and excellent for children. Punta Rata is surrounded by pine trees and is covered with pebbles and sand. A huge rock bulges out of the sea making the beach a charming and beautiful destination.

4. Sunj Beach

Sunj is a fine sandy beach at Lopud Island which is car free. The beach itself is very romantic, almost 1 km long and offers a great variety of activities. Children love it because the beach is shallow and even after 100 meters into the sea the water is still knee high. Lopud and Sunj beach are very popular for a day-trip and are recommended to all the Dubrovnik visitors.

Right between Split and Makarska lays a little piece of Heaven called Brela Beach which was voted 6th best beach in the world by Forbes. Brela Beach is an incredible colourful mixture of green trees, turquoise water and shiny white sand. The Biokovo Mountain above makes the atmosphere even more majestic.

2. Zrce Beach

Zrce Beach is the ultimate party destination in the country. It is situated close to Gaja town on the island of Pag. At first Zrce looks like a regular Adriatic Beach but after the sunset it becomes a giant discotheque with numerous bars and clubs.

1. Zlatni Rat Beach

You’ve probably seen pictures of Zlatni Rat Beach even without knowing that this majestic place is in Croatia. Zlatni Rat means Golden Horn and this is exactly what the beach is: a spit of golden sand going deep into the Adriatic Sea. It is located in the Hvar Channel between the islands of Brac and Hvar. This unique landform offers beaches on both sides of the split with a pine forest in the middle.
