Sighiaoara, Romania. Found in historic Transylvania, the town was established in the 12th century! It was inhabited by the German craftsmen and merchant, so it didn’t take long until it became the most important city in the whole region. Today it is one of the best preserved Medieval towns in Europe, hosting a bunch of wonderful historic buildings protected by UNESCO.
Visitors are welcome to explore the 12th century citadel – the very first edifice in Sighiaoara. The 13th century Clock Tower stands out as a symbol of the town. In addition, iconic character Count Dracula was born here and his birthplace is also a popular tourist attraction. The whole atmosphere of Sighiaoara – its narrow streets, historic buildings and colorful houses – makes you believe in time travel.
