Taipei is all year round tourist destination. There is no severe cold in winter and no brutal summer heat. Summers are warm and humid with a maximum temperature of 29ÂșC and sudden rain showers frequently occur. You may need sunblock and umbrella sometimes.

Electricity
Electricity in Taiwan uses electric current of 110 volts at 60 cycles. Many buildings have sockets with 220 volts especially for the use of air conditioners.. Most hotels provide adapters.
Water
Tap water is drinkable, but drinking unboiled water is not recommended. Most hotels provide boiled drinking water. Bottled water is easily available at convenience stores and supermarkets.
Tipping
Tipping is not customary in Taipei. Some hotels and restaurants automatically add a 10% service fee to the bill and sales tax is included in the listed price in Taipei City.
Language
Mandarin is the official language on the island and is spoken by most people. Taiwanese or Hokkien, a Chinese dialect from Fujian Province in China, is spoken by 70% of the population.

Arriving Taipei
From the Airport
1. High Speed Rail
Bus runs approximately every 15 minutes from the airport to the Taoyuan High Speed Rail station. From there, you can catch one of the HSR trains to Taipei Main Station. The bus is NT$30 and the train is NT$160.
2. Bus
Express airport buses cost between NT$120 and NT$150 depending on the bus company, and there are stops at both terminals.
Most Taipei routes are divided into West and East, with each company operating a service every 10 to 15 minutes on each route.
The western line bus terminates at Taipei Main Railway Station while the eastern line terminate at the Taipei Grand Hyatt Hotel.

2. Taxi
Taxi queues are outside the Arrival Halls of both terminals. To ensure the safety of passengers, only the taxis approved by the Aviation Police Bureau are permitted to operate in Taoyuan Airport.
