10. Bled Island

Discover the inner beauty of this extensive cave network near Postojna. Take the cave’s railway to explore natural works of art such as the well-known stalagmite Brilliant. During World War II, the caves were used to store fuel for invading Nazi forces. Slovenia resistors ignited the cache of fuel and the fire burned for nearly a week, causing the charring along the entrance of the cave.

Crashes and breaks of the Radovna River along the cliff sides can be heard throughout this beautiful gorge. Follow the mountain face along the raised bridge and make your way north towards the small villages down river. The gorge opens up at the spectacular Šuml, the tallest waterfall in Slovenia.
